Eragon walked up the steps of the palace, into the buliding, and down the long hallway. He made a sharp left and entered the faerie throne room. He walked to the throne seat and bowed before the faerie queen. He could feel Banon tugging at his mind, trying to see what was happening, but Eragon, for the first time in a while, blocked her out. He didnt want her to go through the pain if they didnt take her back. 'No' he thought, 'they WILL take her back, or I'm not leaving.' he firmly decided and stood his ground. The faerie queen began to speak.

((you want me to be her?)) Queen Ariana spoke coldly. "You are lucky the guards did not kill you. What do you want with us? This is not a guarantee that you will get it."

Eragon looked at her, slightly amused. This woman was used to getting what she wanted. 'Not this time' Eragon thought firmly. "Your gaurds could not have killed me if they tried. I only come to ask you to reinstate Banon into your society. She did no wrong to you or your race. She simply defended herself against a male faerie who was trying to invade her mind, and in doing so, was invading her. Do you not teach your females to be strong and defend themselves?" he asked firmly, trying not to raise his voice.

The queen raised an eyebrow. "Our females can think for themselves. Am I not a queen? And she was a lower rank than him. She had no right to slaughter him. How do you know the secrets of our race?" Her hand was gripped firmly on an intricately carved amethyst staff. The staff reminded Eragon strangely of Banon. It also radiated an energy that was reminiscent of Banon's.

Eragon sighed. "Do you really want to know...I know a lot more about your race than you think I do. I am not a normal human. Try to break into my mind and you will know what I mean by that. So what if she was a lower rank than him...has the thought that he was an arrogant jerk who already had 5 wives crossed your mind? His wives become his slaves." he was angry now. "Tell me, would you marry someone if you knew you were only going to be a slave in the house all day long? Would you throw away your life to some man who you are stronger than?" he spat the words at her, to make sure she understood his meaning.

She flicked her hand at the stubborn boy dismissively. "She wasn't stronger than him. Do you think she liked it here anyways? Of course she didn't. She hated being caged. At least for the last months of her life she can enjoy being free." Despite all of these cold comments, Eragon detected some worry in her demeanor. He knew if he made it easier on her pride, he would be able to get a bargain out of her. "You're right, he's an incompetent fool. But she could have just let him have his way with her. It's not like faeries are very protective of their bodies anyways. Most of them. I must obey the rules, and he was of a higher rank than she, and she killed him. That's all I can see in this. She deserved the sentence she got. Have you any idea what kind of protests I would have gotten from the people had I decided otherwise?"

Eragon heard the resentment in her voice. He poked around the edges of her mind subtly to try to find out why she was so attached to Banon. He found it....they were cousins! Eragon saw a new light in this situation. "Yes, but is this a matter of pride over y our people, or family loyalty..." he asked her quietly, knowing he'd hit a sore spot. "Has your family talked to you since this...." he asked her gently, prodding around for more information. "Just think...if you bring her back on probation, saying she's changed and that she would only come into the city under your careful gaze and command, it would make you look both powerful and caring. Two qualities that are definitely good for your image." he was trying to make this sound beneficial for her.

The queen's eyes finally revealed her sorrow. "You have betrayed my confidence... But I shall see. Until then, you must leave. The faeries haven't enjoyed a human killing in years. Or half-god, for that matter." She resumed her coldness and tapped her staff. Two guards promptly came in, coming close enough to Eragon to intimidate but not close enough to be touched by the "inferior" creature.

Eragon sighed. "You dont understand...I need to know....I dont mind staying here until you make a decision. Besides, maybe I can make a few faeries not hate my kind so much." he smirked.

"Fine. But I feel Banon's longing... surely you cannot resist a faerie-- and a particularly special one at that?" The queen smirked before adding,"You can stay, but it may take a while. You do realize I don't have absolute power. I must consult with a few important faeries." She flicked her hand at him. The guards led Eragon to a large room which consisted of a few uncomfortable-looking benches and trays. They left to get some refreshments for him.

Eragon sighed. He decided to talk to Banon. "I'm in a jail cell...but as a guest. I'll fix it up. I have to stay a few days...be back soon." he sent the message to her and shut the link down to where she couldnt talk to him, but could still feel his presence.

Banon walked towards her treehouse, flitted up to a high branch, and curled up, just enjoying the warmth of a mind who loved her and felt right next to her. She let him feel all of her love and want for him, ensuring that he'd come back and feel it in a less.. mental way, since he had shut down any means of her talking to him. She was powerful enough, probably, to overcome that, but she didn't want to waste energy, and she didn't want to invade on his privacy.

Eragon felt the love she sent him and sent it times 2 right back.

Banon went to sleep smiling with the remnants of Eragon's last feeling-send.
The queen, meanwhile, called together a congregation of important faeries, and began to speak. "The issue of Banon the murderer has come up again..."

Eragon turned on his deamon hearing. He started listening through walls as the faerie council talked.
