She looked back fiercely. "I don't want anyone in my mind. Anyone. I control my own mind and who comes in and what goes out." This said vehemently, Donni was surprised to feel tears pricking the corners of her eyes and quickly ran a hand across her face. Her pixie ish face glared at the teacher in front of her.

"Yes, i felt the same way. But if you trust no one to come into your mind, you will live in fear...sheltered. you need to learn to trust me....besides, i wont come in except for when i am teaching you something, lending you energy in a fight, or you ask me to. i dont invade on peoples minds usually unless invited." he looked back at her, eyes kind. she reminded him so much of a younger version of himself.

"Well, until I decide and I'm comfortable with it, stay out." Donni's eyebrows were drawn together in an angry face. But suddenly it brightened as if she'd forgotten what just happened, and she said,"Okay, so what's next?"

Eragon shook his head and turned away for a moment as to not go off on her and use some of his magic. He took a deep breath to calm himself. He turned back around. "I guess we'll work on your swordsman ship since you wont let me in your mind to help with the magic."

"Okay, Mr. Grumpy. So.. how do you hold this thing again?" Donni said, picking up her old battered sword that she'd picked up from the armory.

Eragon eyed the thing, making a disgusting face at it. "You will not learn how to fight with that.....that thing is as old as my father!" he turned and strolled out of the room quickly. He poked his head back in. "What's your favorite type of sword?" he asked her. He turned around again and started walking. 'Coming?' he asked through their mind link.

She blinked. But I liked this one.. it looked so .. old, she thought before following. 'How am I supposed to know? And does it look like I'm coming?' she smarted back at him.

'It didnt a minute ago.' he replied calmly, used to smartasses. He continued walking as she ran to catch up. He turned left and entered an abandoned room. He set up a teleporter in the armory shop in town and one right in front of them. He looked back at her. She was looking at the teleporter like it was poison. He rolled his eyes. "Are you coming?" he asked snappily.

"What... is that?" Donni asked, poised to run. It looked weird, and she didn't trust magic that wasn't her own. She stayed five feet away from it even as Eragon snapped at her.

He sighed. "Have you never seen any magic before?" he asked, annoyed. "It is a teleporter....my specialty in magic. If you dont believe me that it is perfectly safe, why dont you ask Okami....after all, he is my brother and has traveled in them many times with me. But, if you werent so scared all the time, we wouldnt have to go through all this trouble." he walked over to the teleporter and held out his hand. You have to be touching me in some way for it to work....its best if we hold hands." he said, thinking of Banon and wishing she was with him. She would have gladly wrapped her arms around him, trusting him completely. He sighed. 'I'm not here with Banon...I'm here with this stubborn little girl.' he reminded himself.

Donni got a flood of feelings when Eragon grabbed her hand. Annoyance.. yearning.. acceptance, sadness, pushed-back loss, and resignation. She also picked up a snatch of thought... 'stubborn little girl.' "Hey. I'm not scared, but do you remember your first time having to trust someone else completely? It's not easy. I'm putting my life in your hands by traveling with your magic. You could take me anywhere. I like you, I do, but you obviously haven't taught much before." Donni said this with her hands on her hips, realizing Eragon didn't need sympathy, he needed a teacher.. for how to deal with "stubborn little girls." "Oh, and I'm definitely NOT a little girl," she added sassily.

Eragon laughed. "Actually, I've never taught anybody....you got stuck with me cause my old teacher thought you would be the perfect student. Guess he was right cause now I know how I was with him." ERagon stopped to think about what his teacher had done. "I'll tell you about what I think the extent of your magic is so far, how you can make it even grater, and what your 'homework' will be for the night after we get you a proper sword." he finally said, remembering how his teacher had treated him with patience. He decided to try that approach.

"Much better," Donni admonished. "Sooo....."

They walked into the portal and Eragon shut his eyes for a moment, concentrating on the armory. Suddenly, they both were in the ground.....flying thorough all of the molecules that made up the world. He looked over at Donni to see how she was faring.

Donni was petrified, but tried to make her face look calm and collected. The result was a contorted mask of weirdness. She looked kinda constipated.
