Wyn relished the warm summery air as she walked through the ward's gardens. She'd never been outside here before-- every visit she'd had, she'd been forced to stay in her bed, heavily drugged. Finally, though, she'd gotten a new doctor, who had deemed her healthy enough to have a few rights. She'd even been allowed to wear some normal clothes. Sitting down on a bench, Wyn closed her eyes and sighed happily. She'd never dreamed of feeling this way here before. Every other visit had been a nightmare. The gardens were in the center of the hospital, which was designed like many others-- a square with an outdoor courtyard in the middle. It was huge, though, large enough for patients to spread out in the gardens. Wyn had found an especially quiet little spot. She was almost asleep when she noticed that her eyelids were no longer pink, meaning the sun had gone behind a cloud. She opened one eye, not wanting to stay out here if it rained. Her jaw dropped. Every inch of sky, before a bright blue, had now been covered in dark thunderheads. Who did this? was the first thing she thought. Then, Why did I just think WHO did this? That didn't make any sense. It was just weird weather, that's all. She cast one more confused look at the sky before dejectedly beginning the long, winding walk back to the door she'd come out of. Nurses had spread among the patients, gently gathering the passive ones and forcefully dragging the stubborn people. Wyn looked away from the nearest one and hurried towards the door. She hated the reminders that she was here to be treated. Her mind was surprisingly quiet now, though. The therapy and drugs she'd been administered seemed to be working. That was a relief. She could think clearly, and she hadn't thought about cutting for almost 15 hours now. Not that she had anything to cut with. Her room was stark white, bare of anything that could possibly by any stretch of the imagination be used as a weapon. They'd had her here enough to know she could be a handful sometimes, even sedated. Shaking her head of these memories, Wyn finally reached the door. She looked back as she felt a new, cool, wet feeling coming from outside. Whoa... The before warm, bright gardens were suddenly transforming into grey, cold ones, and snowflakes floated down the three stories of buildings, coating flowers in an icy encasement. The month was August. Wyn suddenly felt an urge to witness this. Looking around, she ducked behind a bush. The attendants were all too preoccupied with the weather to notice the small, waifish girl suddenly disappearing. Lightning flashed and a low rumble snaked its way down to their ears. The sound of a few patients' shrieks at the strange behavior of nature echoed around the garden once before being silenced by the quickening snow.

Christy snapped out of her sleep from her nightmare and stepped into another one. She looked outside and saw the clouds. "darnit..." she mumbled. "Always do it the same way dontcha dad?!" she yelled out of her window and threw on some dirty clothes off the floor. She flew out the door and sprinted down the street, heading for the hospital.

Wyn's eyes were tugged towards the sky. She ignored the snowflakes coating her body and eyelashes, mesmerized by the clouds. A shape seemed to be forming... a... man? Her mouth gaped and snow melted on her tongue and her cheeks as the little warmth she'd had left her. All she felt was anger... it consumed her. Squeezing her eyes shut, she roared. Standing up, she yelled every curse she knew at the sky. And laughed. This was so different from the usual feelings she picked up. Those, those were watered down, a fraction of what people really felt. She hardly ever felt things for herself. This was pure-- anger in its most concentrated form, and with it, ecstatic power. She drew her arms above her head and let go. Let go of her sense of self, every feeling she dragged with her daily, every memory. She did it consciously. This was the best solution that had ever been presented to her. She had tried so many ways to find solace... even suicide. But this, this divine connection with the sky, the being who had caused the sky to look like this, this was beautiful. She let go. And, suddenly, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. A void. What happened? Where... what?
Searing pain. She was somewhere, somewhere outside the hospital. Her cheek touched cement. She felt empty, powerless, that little spark that had always kept her alive before, alive and knowing that she was her own person, gone. Broken on a barren, cold street, no life, just herself, not even herself. What....? Fog. Fog, snow, a flash of lightning. A running figure, getting larger. She closed her eyes. Not a person. She didn't need to take more burdens right now. This emptiness was beginning to appeal to her. She pulled her legs up to her bruised chin, feeling the exquisite pain of a broken rib, a cut on her cheek. Fetal position. Eyes shut. Escape. Freedom.

Christy knelt down on the ground next to Wyn. "No...nooo....wake up!" she cried at Wyn. She sent a huge burst of magic into Wyn and noticed the section of magic that allowed Wyn to take in burdens. Christy threw that magic down into the deepest part of Wyn and forced shields to go all around it. 'Maybe it'll help.' she thought, pushing deeper into Wyn's mind, digging around for her energy so that she could feed into it. "Wake UP!!!" she screamed both in mind and outloud. She felt all her energy focus and raced through Wyn's body, desperately tryig to beat her father, knowing he was trying to control her.

Wyn moaned. She knew the... whatever had caught her had made these wounds impossible to heal. She enjoyed the pain. A shattered jaw kept her from speaking or smiling, but she opened one swollen eye to acknowledge whatever had come. Christy? She had always been the one who cared about Wyn, the only one. The only one who visited her in the hospital, the only one who tried to help, the only one who acknowledged that small, broken girl lurking in the shadows. But though she'd made life easier mentally, and slightly more enjoyable, she couldn't heal her now. But Wyn didn't want to leave her here. She didn't want her to have to bear the pain of losing someone. And she couldn't take her burdens for some reason. "Mmr." She grimaced at the sharp pain and the blood trickling out of her mouth. She wanted to retreat into darkness. Taking a ragged breath through her rib-pierced lungs, she gurgled helplessly and moved one leg slightly.
((this is just morbid. XD))

Christy came back out of Wyn's broken body and was extremely angry. "I'll fix you Wyn. Just wait." she said, just before suddenly flying up into the sky. She looked at herself surprised, but kept going, focused on only one thing. 'Father, its me you want. Not her...spare her and I'll let you take me. You must mend her...if you dont I will never go with you and i will kill myself...and that would ruin all your pretty little plans now wouldnt it.' she spat angrily at her father with her mind-magic. 'Do it now or I will kill myself from overload of magic from killing you. Then we'll both be dead. You have 3 seconds.'

Wyn started to crawl, hoping with a last bit of insane reality that she could get away, leave this place, die in a forest somewhere in peace.

~Christy's father, Syr, contemplated Christy's offer. He thought of any downsides and saw none. "Deal" he boomed to her. Suddenly, the helpless girl on the ground desperately trying to crawl was completely healed. In that same instant, his daughter was bound in chains to be his slave for the time being...until he needed her newly found powers. "Come along my pet." he said, noting her shiver as he called her pet. He smiled 'This is going to be interesting..'

Wyn shuddered as her body became whole again. The pain was worse than it had been before as the magic worked on her, and she shook in tremors for a good ten minutes after she was healed. When that was over and her mind was clear, she broke into sobs. The end had been so near. And she had wanted it... she had actually wanted it. Once the the prize had been within easy grasp, it had been taken away from her. She pounded her fist on the ground. "WHY? WHY? Christy, did you do this? Why..." she sobbed and heaved drily once. She didn't have anything to vomit. She felt like a new born baby, like she hadn't existed until now. She felt her emotions only, as the street was completely empty. Her anguish consumed her soul until she felt like blackness. Until she was numb.
The girl slowly stood up, wobbling on uncertain feet a bit, before walking hopelessly down the street. What should she do? Where had Christy gone? The storm was over as quickly as it had started, and although a lot of time had passed, Wyn felt like she had had that power only minutes ago, that it had all been taken away from her in a heartbeat, leaving a whole girl with a broken soul, a shattered mind, no reality. She should have left me to die. The words formed a mantra in her mind, a single-mindedness like she'd never felt before. Her mind had always felt like it was in a million places at once. Now she was just convinced of Christy's wrongness, and that she had to find Christy before finally giving up. "CHRISTY!" she yelled at the sky. "Christy!" she broke into sobs again, crushed by the hopelessness of finding her friend.

Christy heard her friends sobs and screams of anguish and she began to silently cry, knowing that she would probably never see her best friend again. She desperately called out to anyone in the magic world for help, but the only answer she got was from someone almost as terrifying as her father...Eragon's mother. She was desperate though. 'Please, I beg you....help me.....' she cried to his mother. Eragon's mother just laughed and tore the connection. Christy sighed and started to collect power deep inside of her. She decided right then, 'I will not serve my father.' She silently floated as she formed a plan and sent out a small magic trail behind her and sending a little message to Wyn, praying that it would make the journey back to her. The message was in the form of a cloud and was moving towards the hospital, where Wyn was still sobbing.

Wyn caught a wisp of Christy's essence on her mindless trek through the streets and the tears nearly started again. The hopelessness of everything consumed her. Was she still angry at Christy? She couldn't tell. Everything was too confused right now. She won't serve her father? That thing... was her father? Wyn was tired of crying, tired of being broken. She tried to pull herself together, breathing deep, shaky breaths as she walked. I will find her. I will fight. I will NOT cry after today.
It's my fault she's gone. She knew these were promises she would keep. A feeling had been forming in her recently, a deep, dark, secret feeling, one she knew was dangerous. It was a power. A dark power that could destroy her. She knew she would have to use it soon. But how do I get to her?

Christy raced through her mind for a way to get rid of the cuffs. She wished with all her might that the cuffs were on her father insteaad of her and that they could bind his magic instead of the powers of hers that he knew about. Suddenly, she felt a singe on her wrist. "Oww!" she cried. Her father looked down...
~"Ahhhh...my little girl is learning the hard way that I know all of her powers...." he cackled. "Every time you try to use your magic the cuffs placed on your body will burn you"~
Christy glared at her father and hoped that Wyn would bring help...and that she wouldnt use all of the dark emotions inside of her to torture herself. She suddenly felt a prescence on her mind....'Wyn!' she thought. She opened her eyes and let Wyn see through them and Wyn saw what Christy was going through.

CHRISTY! Wyn screamed with her mind. Suddenly, she was inside Christy's head. She saw Christy's father and gasped. She recognized him and felt a burning anger. You gave everything to me... and took it away, you bastard! In that moment of pure hate, she broke through the boundary and fell into... the sky. Her body lay there for a second while the rest of her caught up. She blinked. "What..." Suddenly she realized what had happened and sat up like a scared rabbit. What should she do? Christy's father would bind her like he'd bound Christy if he got the chance. She couldn't let him touch her-- she'd get his burdens as well as chains. Closing her eyes, she cloaked herself in darkness. Unthinkingly. Immediately her hate felt stronger. Her body felt stronger. What had just happened?

Christy saw Wyn fall into the sky beneath her. Her father hadnt noticed. Christy started to used every once of magic she had in her...all of it focused on one thing...breaking the chains and creating a distraction for Wyn. Her father looked over at her. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? ?" he bellowed. Christy continued and felt her energy start to dwindle, but she pressed on. 'Go....' she managed to send to Wyn. She felt Wyn spring into action just as she suddenly felt the chains snap and she was free. Her father sprung towards her and tried to capture her again. "Not this time..." Christy said and threw magic at him. He stumbled backwards and Wyn attacked with Christy...

Wyn punched him with more fury and strength than she'd ever felt in her life. Then she followed through with a kick she'd never practiced. She'd beat people up, sure, but she hadn't had classes or anything, and she was a weak, fragile person now... after everything. Usually. But this was different. She was different. She was darker, had a feral look in her eyes. Her teeth were just a little longer... the canines. "Good job, Christy," she yelled when she was level with her again. The man was growling at them and summoning something. "STOP HIM!" Wyn yelled as she sunk her teeth into his hand and broke his nose, interrupting his thoughts.
Her thoughts were clear, concise, fast. There was no emotion involved. The surge of hate was mostly gone now, and replaced by cold calculation. She felt that blob of darkness she'd felt before grow to envelope her. She welcomed it in, but saved a part of herself for the real Wyn. Right now, she couldn't afford to have much of that, though. Right now, she had herself, her friend, and possibly the world to save. If only she could keep herself under control. This new power was.. breathtaking.
